South Africa celebrates a significant milestone in youth entrepreneurship with the graduation of 69 young entrepreneurs.

This achievement marks the culmination of the Services SETA’s training programme, aimed at combating youth unemployment through skills development. The graduation ceremony highlighted the potential of these young individuals to contribute to the economy.

Celebrating Young Entrepreneurs in South Africa

The graduation of 69 aspiring entrepreneurs from the Services Sector Education and Training Authority’s New Venture Creation Learnership underscores a commitment to youth empowerment. This initiative, held in partnership with the City of Johannesburg’s Department of Social Development and the Phosaane Institute, aims to equip young South Africans with essential business skills.

Acting Services SETA CEO Sibusiso Dhladhla emphasized the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for youth. He noted that the programme’s success rate is among the highest, with 69 out of 98 participants completing the learnership.

Key Achievements of the Training Programme

Participants received training in various areas, including market research, business planning, and financial management. More than 10% of graduates have already secured permanent employment or launched their own businesses, contributing to local economic opportunities.

Herbert Phogole from the Phosaane Training Institute highlighted the resilience and determination of the graduates. He expressed gratitude for the partnerships that made this programme possible, emphasizing the need for ongoing support for young entrepreneurs.
