City Sightseeing Launches Gauteng Xplorer Tours for Curated Day Excursions

City Sightseeing Johannesburg is expanding its offerings with the launch of Gauteng Xplorer Tours, providing curated excursions that highlight the best of Gauteng.

The new tours feature three main options: the Dinokeng Big 5 Safari Tour, the Sterkfontein Caves & Voortrekker Monument Tour, and the Harties Aerial Cableway & Lion & Safari Park Day Tour. Each tour is designed for small groups and requires a minimum of two guests to book.

Discover Gauteng’s Wildlife with Xplorer Tours

The Dinokeng Big 5 Safari Tour offers an authentic wildlife experience just outside Pretoria. Guests will travel in comfort from central Johannesburg and enjoy a guided game drive in an open safari vehicle. This tour allows participants to spot the Big 5—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—while learning about conservation efforts in the Dinokeng Game Reserve.

Costing R1749 per adult and R879 per child, this tour is ideal for those seeking a genuine safari experience without extensive travel. It operates on selected days, returning by 6:30 PM, with convenient pick-up points in Rosebank, Sandton, or Melrose Arch.

Explore Heritage Sites on Xplorer Tours

The Sterkfontein Caves & Voortrekker Monument Tour combines two significant heritage sites into one full-day experience. At Sterkfontein Caves, part of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, guests will explore limestone caves where important hominid fossils were discovered. The tour includes guided tours and interpretive exhibits about human origins.

At the Voortrekker Monument, visitors will learn about the Great Trek and early settler life while enjoying panoramic views of Pretoria. This tour also costs R1749 for adults and R879 for children, with similar booking requirements and return transport options.

Upcoming Tours and Booking Information

  • Harties Aerial Cableway & Lion & Safari Park Day Tour on Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • Minimum of 2 guests required per booking for all tours.
  • Return transport available from Rosebank, Sandton, or Melrose Arch.

Gauteng Xplorer Tours offer a unique way to experience the region’s wildlife and heritage.
