Morocco is actively enhancing its role in South-South cooperation across Africa.
During a high-level seminar in Brussels on September 8 and 9, the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) highlighted its commitment to fostering collaboration with African nations. The event, organized alongside Belgium’s Enabel, aimed to explore new initiatives and build on two decades of partnership.
Morocco Showcases South-South Cooperation Initiatives
The seminar gathered senior officials and experts from Morocco, Belgium, and various African nations. AMCI Director General Mohamed Methqal emphasized the importance of sharing Morocco’s experience in sustainable development, aligning with King Mohammed VI’s vision for Africa.
Participants discussed leveraging the complementary expertise of AMCI and Enabel to tailor triangular cooperation projects that meet the specific needs of African countries. Methqal pointed out that such cooperation is crucial for addressing local community development challenges.
Key Areas of Focus for Cooperation
The seminar centered on three main areas: entrepreneurship, innovation and economic inclusion; labor mobility and employability; and corridors and logistics. These topics were chosen to align with the development priorities of African partner countries.
Discussions allowed participants to share experiences and identify potential avenues for joint initiatives, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Morocco and Belgium.
