Cameroon is taking significant strides to enhance its vaccination logistics.

During a recent visit to the Littoral region, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Malachie MANAOUDA, received 823 solar refrigerators valued at 7 million US dollars. This initiative aims to boost the cold chain technology coverage in health facilities from 47% to 82%.

Strengthening Immunization in Cameroon

The delivery of solar refrigerators is a pivotal move for Cameroon’s Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). These units will ensure that vaccines are stored at the correct temperatures, thereby reducing stockouts and waste. The logistics package also includes 374 off-road motorcycles to enhance access to vaccination services in remote areas.

With 296 motorcycles funded by Gavi and 78 by the Mastercard Foundation through Africa CDC, this initiative aims to bridge the gap in vaccination access. Additionally, refrigerated vans, trucks, and light vehicles are being deployed to further support the logistics of vaccine distribution.
