Skywatchers in Egypt will witness a remarkable celestial event on August 28, 2026.

A partial lunar eclipse will occur, with the Earth’s shadow covering about 93% of the Moon. The eclipse will be visible in regions where the Moon is above the horizon, including parts of Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

Egypt to Experience Partial Lunar Eclipse

The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics in Egypt has confirmed the details of the upcoming partial lunar eclipse. This event will coincide with the full moon of Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH. The eclipse will be visible from various regions, allowing many to enjoy this astronomical phenomenon.

The entire eclipse will last approximately five hours and 38 minutes. The partial phase, where the Moon will be obscured by the Earth’s shadow, will last around three hours and 18 minutes.

Key Times for the Eclipse in Egypt

In Egypt, the penumbral eclipse will begin at 4:24 am local time. This initial stage is subtle and may not be easily observed. The visible partial eclipse will start at 5:34 am, as the Moon begins to enter the darker part of the Earth’s shadow.

Observers in Cairo will have the opportunity to see part of the eclipse before sunrise, which is expected at around 6:29 am. The partial phase will continue until about 8:52 am Cairo time, concluding the entire eclipse at approximately 10:02 am.
