In an assertive push to enhance educational infrastructure and support local governance, President João Lourenço has embarked on a significant journey across Angola’s northeastern provinces. After a productive 24-hour working visit in Dundo, the capital of Lunda-Norte Province, the President is now en route to Saurimo City, the vibrant capital of Lunda-Sul Province.
During his stay in Lunda-Norte, President Lourenço inaugurated the impressive Lueji A’nkonde University Campus, a venture that marks a monumental step forward in higher education for the region. This state-of-the-art campus, valued at over million, is a testament to Angola’s commitment to education and development. It features a variety of modern facilities, including 87 classrooms, administrative offices, libraries, an auditorium, student and faculty residences, and leisure areas. The campus is designed to accommodate more than 8,000 students annually, heralding a new age of educational opportunities for aspiring students in the region.
The President also engaged in crucial discussions with local government officials to delve into the unique challenges faced by the province and explore innovative solutions. These dialogues are essential for understanding the socio-economic landscape of Lunda-Norte and strategizing on future developments, ensuring that the needs of the community are met effectively.
As he continues to Saurimo, President Lourenço is poised to inaugurate a new polytechnic institute in Muangueji, which, like Lunda-Norte, has recently been promoted to municipal status. This institute is expected to share similar characteristics with the Lueji A’nkonde Campus, providing a solid foundation for technical and vocational training. Such initiatives not only cater to immediate educational needs but also empower the youth and foster local economic growth.
This educational crusade aligns perfectly with Angola’s broader vision for transformation, showcasing an unwavering commitment to progress and innovation in the Angolan education sector. The country’s robust investment in educational infrastructure is a clear indication of its dedication to nurturing a skilled workforce capable of responding to both local and global challenges.
