Cultural Book Concert to Celebrate Diversity and Heritage at KBS

This Friday, the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) will open its doors to a delightful journey through stories and arts as they host a vibrant cultural book concert. This exciting event highlights the beauty of children’s picture books written in Korean by immigrants, drawing inspiration from traditional folktales of their diverse home countries.

Taking place at the KBS Art Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the concert promises an immersive experience for attendees, showcasing the rich tapestry of global narratives and cultural expressions. Participating writers from Morocco, Russia, China, and the Philippines will take the stage to share their unique works. The event not only serves as a platform for literary contributions but also as a vibrant showcase of heritage through storytelling in their native languages, complete with traditional dances that reflect the cultural essence of their countries.

KBS voice actors will lend their talents to narrate the picture books, adding layers of emotion and engagement through their performances. To enhance this captivating storytelling, the event will also feature stunning sand art and shadow play, creating a multidimensional experience that is sure to enchant audiences of all ages. A medley of beloved children’s songs, electrifying performances by a talented children’s choir, and energetic displays by a dance troupe will round out the entertainment, ensuring a lively atmosphere filled with joy and creativity.

This concert is part of the Family Month festivities in South Korea, curated in celebration of Together Day, a national observance dedicated to fostering harmony and understanding between Korean citizens and foreign residents. Since its establishment in 2007, Together Day has aimed to promote inclusivity and cultural exchange, making this concert a fitting tribute to its mission.

Join KBS this Friday to partake in a heartwarming celebration that embraces diversity, culture, and the magic of storytelling. Let’s come together to recognize the beauty of our differences and the joy that comes from sharing our stories.
