The program commenced on Monday at the Orchid Hotel in Lekki and is organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the impactful Saving One Million Lives Programme for Results.
In her opening address, Dr. Victoria Egunjobi, Director of Disease Control at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, articulated the program’s crucial role in combating viral hepatitis, an infectious disease that poses a substantial public health challenge. “This training is vital for equipping medical officers with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage patients suffering from viral hepatitis in general hospitals across Lagos State,” she remarked.
Dr. Egunjobi highlighted the broader mission behind the training: to ensure accessible healthcare for all Lagosians while working towards the ambitious target set by the World Health Organization—to eliminate viral hepatitis by the year 2030. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our ongoing efforts to bolster the healthcare system in Lagos and achieve sustainable health outcomes for our citizens,” she added.
