Central Bank of Egypt to Issue EGP 18 Billion in Treasury Bonds

The Central Bank of Egypt is launching a significant treasury bond offering to support government financing.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) will offer EGP 18 billion in fixed-rate treasury bonds on Monday. These three-year bonds feature a fixed interest rate of 23.091% and are set to mature on July 7, 2029.

The offering consists of fixed-rate treasury bonds aimed at financing the state budget. The CBE is acting on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, which has authorized the bank to manage treasury bill and bond issuances in Egyptian pounds throughout the fiscal year.

These bonds will carry a semi-annual coupon, providing investors with regular interest payments. The fixed interest rate of 23.091% reflects the current economic conditions and the CBE’s monetary policy stance.

Monetary Policy Committee’s Decisions

At its latest meeting, the Monetary Policy Committee decided to maintain key interest rates. The overnight deposit rate remains at 19.00%, while the overnight lending rate is set at 20.00%. The main operation rate and the discount rate are both unchanged at 19.50%.

This decision reflects the CBE’s approach to managing inflation and supporting economic stability in Egypt.
