The Oura Ring 5 has officially launched in South Africa, offering significant upgrades over its predecessor.
Discovery introduced the Oura Ring 5 to local Vitality members in August 2026, just under a year after the Oura Ring 4’s debut. The new model is approximately 40% smaller, boasts improved battery life of six to nine days, and tracks over 50 health metrics.
Discovery Launches Oura Ring 5 in South Africa
The Oura Ring 5 is now available to eligible Vitality and Discovery Bank clients. This new offering allows users to fully fund select Ring 5 styles by meeting their Vitality Sleep Rewards goals over 24 months. The funding covers up to R10,897, which includes R8,099 for a Black or Silver Ring 5 and R2,798 for a 24-month Oura Membership.
Additionally, there is a promotional activation fee reduction from R999 to R99 for a limited time. Discovery continues to sell the Oura Ring 4 at discounted prices while supplies last.
Key Features of the Oura Ring 5
The Oura Ring 5 features a redesigned sensing architecture with 12 signal pathways, enhancing accuracy across different skin tones. It is thinner and weighs just 2g, making it comfortable for all-day wear, including during sleep. The device also retains core features like sleep, recovery, heart rate, and wellness tracking.
While the software updates introduced with the Ring 5 will also be available for Oura Ring Gen3 and later devices, the new model is particularly appealing for first-time buyers due to its size and improved functionality.
