The Late Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu Foundation is pursuing a partnership with the federal government to manage a new medical centre in Edo State.

This 62-bed facility aims to enhance healthcare access in underserved communities. The proposal was presented during a visit to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, in Abuja.

New Medical Centre to Boost Healthcare in Edo State

The Late Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu Foundation seeks to ensure the professional management and sustainability of the newly completed medical centre located in Idumu-Iyase, Ewatto. Chief Dr. Leemon Ikpea, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasized that the partnership would involve a public-private arrangement, allowing a federal government medical institution to manage the hospital while ownership remains with the Foundation.

This strategic collaboration is designed to guarantee clinical excellence and efficient administration, ultimately benefiting the local population. The medical centre includes various facilities, such as male, female, and paediatric wards, operating theatres, and diagnostic services like X-ray and CT scan units.
