The Mekong Delta is set to enhance its connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City through a major expressway project.

Local authorities and investors have agreed on a plan to develop the CT.33 expressway, linking Ho Chi Minh City with Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, and Soc Trang provinces. The total investment for this public-private partnership (PPP) project is estimated at more than VND69 trillion (.7 billion).

Major Investment in Mekong Delta Expressway

The CT.33 expressway will be developed in two phases. Phase 1 is expected to cost over VND29.2 trillion and aims for completion before 2030. This phase will involve constructing 73 km of new expressway and upgrading 13 km of existing national highways.

Phase 2 will add a further 78 km to the expressway, with an estimated cost of more than VND39.8 trillion, excluding interest. This phase will also be implemented before 2030, contingent on securing necessary funding.
