Volkswagen ID. Buzz to Launch in South Africa This Year

Volkswagen is set to launch its all-electric ID. Buzz in South Africa by the end of 2023.

After a successful trial run in 2023, the ID. Buzz will officially debut in the fourth quarter. This follows a six-month trial where four Cargo panel vans were tested by DHL across major cities like Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban.

ID. Buzz Launch Marks Electric Shift in South Africa

The ID. Buzz, a battery-electric people mover, has been a focal point for Volkswagen’s strategy in South Africa. Initially hinted at two years ago, the vehicle’s launch is part of a broader push towards electric mobility in the region. The trial with DHL was crucial for assessing the vehicle’s performance in local logistics.

Volkswagen Group Africa executives confirmed that both passenger and Cargo versions of the ID. Buzz have been approved for release. The Pure variant will feature a power output of 125kW and torque of 310Nm, specifically designed for short wheelbase models.
