The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) is calling on eligible voters to register this weekend. Registration will take place on Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 2026. Voting stations will be open from 8am to 5pm to facilitate the registration process.

Voters are reminded to bring their identity documents, which can be a green barcoded ID book, a smartcard ID, or a valid Temporary ID Certificate. The IEC also encourages voters to complete their physical home address during registration.

Special voting will occur at designated stations and through home visits on May 26, 2026, between 8am and 5pm. The IEC has launched the “Get up. Show up. Vote.” campaign to encourage participation and rebuild public trust.
