The 57th Cairo International Book Fair has set a new record for participation and activities, showcasing Egypt’s cultural vibrancy.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the fair on January 21, 2026, at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre. This year’s event features 1,457 publishing houses from 83 countries and a total of 6,637 exhibitors, marking a significant milestone in international participation.
Cairo Book Fair Highlights Global Participation
The Cairo International Book Fair is the largest in its history, reflecting a diverse range of cultural and intellectual content. This year’s edition includes renowned Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz as the “Personality of the Year” and artist Mohieddin El-Labbad as the personality of the Children’s Book Fair. Romania is the guest of honor, showcasing cultural ties through seminars and discussions.
The fair’s extensive program features around 400 events, including 100 book-signing ceremonies and 120 artistic activities. It brings together 170 Arab and international guests, along with over 1,500 writers and intellectuals from Egypt and abroad, enhancing the fair’s reputation as a cultural hub.
Innovations and Initiatives at the Fair
This year, EgyptAir is offering a 20% discount on tickets for visitors traveling to the fair, making it more accessible. Additionally, free Wi-Fi has been introduced for visitors and exhibitors, part of a broader initiative to modernize the fair’s digital infrastructure. This upgrade aims to facilitate direct interaction between publishers and audiences through smart data analytics.
