COSATU Congratulates New Leadership of South African Municipal Workers Union

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has welcomed the newly elected leadership of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU).

Nkhetheni Muthavhi has been elected President of SAMWU during the 13th National Congress held in Mbombela, Mpumalanga from 17 to 19 March. The Congress recognized the unity and discipline of SAMWU members, which COSATU believes will help the union secure future victories for workers.

New Leadership Takes Charge at SAMWU

Nkhetheni Muthavhi, previously the Deputy General Secretary, now leads SAMWU as President. The leadership team also includes Sam Lukheleni as Deputy General Secretary, Mluleki Mbhele as 1st Deputy President, Thobeka Mthintelwa as 2nd Deputy President, Nwabisa Majola as National Treasurer, and Dumisane Magagula as General Secretary.
