Deputy President Mashatile to Address 5th HRDC Summit in Gauteng

The 5th HRDC Summit is set to address critical human resource development needs in South Africa.

Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile will lead the summit on Thursday, 16 April 2026, at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng Province. The event will focus on launching the Reconceptualised HRD Strategy and the Master Skills Plan, while also sharing best practices in human resource development.

Key Themes of the 5th HRDC Summit

The summit will operate under the theme “Living and Working in a Changing World.” It aims to empower youth through Workplace-Based Learning (WPBL) and integrate digital skills into all development programs. This two-day event will also provide a platform for collaborative programs that enhance youth participation in the economy.

Additionally, the summit will review the implementation of Social Compacts from the previous HRDC Summit held in 2021. This review is crucial as it acknowledges the rapidly changing workplace dynamics.

Expected Attendance and Participation

The summit is expected to draw representatives from various sectors, including government departments, councils, business, labor, and civil society. This diverse participation underscores the collaborative nature of the HRDC in addressing human resource development challenges.

Media representatives interested in covering the event must submit their details for accreditation by 14 April 2026. Accreditation will be available for collection on 15 April 2026 at the venue.

Upcoming Steps for the HRDC

  • Summit date: Thursday, 16 April 2026
  • Media accreditation deadline: 14 April 2026
  • Accreditation collection: 15 April 2026

The HRDC Summit will play a pivotal role in shaping South Africa’s human resource development strategy.
