Cairo – Africazine:
In an exciting development for trade relations, Egypt’s exports to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) soared by an impressive 153.30%, reaching a remarkable .80 billion during the first half of 2025, compared to .50 billion in the same period last year. This significant increase underscores the strengthening economic ties between these two vibrant Arab nations, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Moreover, the trade exchange value between Egypt and the UAE reached .80 billion in the first six months of 2025, marking an annual growth of 77.70% from .70 billion. This surge not only highlights the robustness of bilateral trade but also positions Egypt as a key player in the regional market.
On the flip side, Egypt’s imports from the UAE saw a modest decline of 16.60%, falling to billion at the end of June 2025, down from .20 billion a year prior. This little dip in imports suggests an opportunity for Egypt to boost domestic production and reduce dependency on foreign goods, thus creating a more self-sufficient economy.
Financial commitments from the UAE to Egypt remain strong, with investments reaching .20 billion in H1 of fiscal year 2024/25—a 4.80% increase compared to .10 billion in the previous year. Similarly, Egyptian investments in the UAE surged by 21.70% year-on-year, totaling 0.10 million, compared to 6.20 million in the prior fiscal period. This reciprocal investment flow is pivotal for both economies, fostering growth and innovation.
Remittances from Egyptians working in the UAE touched .80 billion in fiscal year 2023/25, reflecting a slight decrease from .10 billion the previous year. Correspondingly, transfers from Emirati citizens in Egypt fell to .60 million from .50 million. This decrease is part of a broader trend reflecting the global economic environment, but the overall picture remains positive, indicating a resilient economic partnership.
As we witness these encouraging trends, it’s clear that both Egypt and the UAE are committed to enhancing their economic cooperation, signaling a promising future for trade and investment in the region.
Stay tuned for more updates on trade dynamics in Africa, as collaborative efforts continue to pave the way for mutual growth and prosperity.
