Mia le Roux Inspires Change: New Initiative Empowers Education for Individuals with Disabilities

Miss South Africa, Mia le Roux, is making significant strides towards inclusivity with her recent collaboration with the B4i Academy, aimed at breaking down educational barriers for disabled communities in South Africa. This partnership is part of the broader Mia Le Roux Movement, which seeks to empower the estimated four million deaf individuals in the country by creating tailored training programs that emphasize accessibility and quality.

This initiative, which is in collaboration with an accredited training institution, will offer learnership programs designed to enhance skills development and promote economic participation for people with disabilities. “I am honoured to partner with the B4i Academy to make a difference in the lives of those who often face significant barriers,” stated Le Roux, underscoring her commitment to fostering a more inclusive society. “This initiative is a step toward ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has access to opportunities that allow them to succeed.”

Le Roux’s dedication goes beyond just education; she aims to dismantle the obstacles that disabled individuals encounter in both educational and employment sectors. “Our purpose is to change lives, offering pathways to dignity, independence, and economic participation for those who often face hurdles in accessing these opportunities,” she explained.

The pilot program, which launched in October 2022, has made remarkable progress, facilitating 120 learnerships thanks to a significant investment from Group Elephant. This achievement has laid the foundation for the first public learnership campaign, set to officially launch today.

Yolandi Venter, CEO of B4i Academy, highlighted the importance of their collaboration, stating, “Group Elephant is a visionary company committed to the upliftment of people in South Africa. Their investment enables the first project of this impactful collaboration.” Venter further emphasized, “At the B4i Academy, we believe in the transformative power of education to unlock potential and create opportunities for all. Our partnership with Mia signifies our steadfast commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.”

Applications for the learnership program are set to open on February 1, 2025, and will close on February 28, 2025, at 6 PM. Interested candidates can apply through the Miss South Africa website, B4i Project’s website, or the Miss South Africa App. For more information, applicants can reach out via email.

This collaborative effort is not just about educational opportunities—it’s about forging pathways to a future where everyone can dream big and achieve their full potential. As South Africa continues to embrace diversity and inclusivity, initiatives like these pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future for all its citizens.
