In an exciting gathering that highlights the evolution of education and digital branding, Cairo is hosting a forum that brings together over 170 participants from 15 countries across the Middle East and North Africa. This significant event is organized by Rossotrudnichestvo, Russia’s agency for international cooperation, and serves as a platform for graduates of Soviet and Russian universities to engage in discussions around pivotal topics like education, health, and the intricacies of branding in the digital age.
Among the attendees are distinguished academics from leading universities, representatives from national ministries, and members of alumni associations dedicated to enhancing collaboration in education and beyond. This forum is particularly timely, as participants delve into how institutions can effectively brand and position themselves within an increasingly competitive digital landscape. The discussions will focus on emerging trends in digital marketing, strategies for managing brand identity online, and ways to sidestep common branding pitfalls. Notably, every participant will receive professional development certificates after the event, adding to the value of this enriching experience.
Pavel Shevtsov, the deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo, addressed attendees with an encouraging message emphasizing the vital role that graduates play amid worldwide changes in politics, economics, and education. “We are confident that our forum will significantly enhance cooperation between our countries in the fields of education and health,” Shevtsov remarked.
The Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgy Borisenko, underscored the historical significance of Russian universities, which have produced tens of thousands of skilled professionals over decades. He expressed pride in having the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed Ayman Ashour—an alumnus of Moscow’s prestigious Architectural Institute—attend the forum. Ashour shared his positive experience from his studies and highlighted Egypt’s interest in contributing to a unified BRICS university.
This forum is not an isolated event; it is part of a wider initiative by Rossotrudnichestvo, which has been establishing annual alumni forums since 2022 in various regions across the globe. This gathering in Cairo marks the second occasion that such an event has occurred in the Middle East or Africa.
Further underlining the potential for international cooperation in education, Rossotrudnichestvo reported that there has been a surge of interest from Africans seeking higher education opportunities in Russia. For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year alone, over 14,000 applications from African candidates have been submitted, indicating a competitive landscape with approximately 2.7 contenders vying for each available spot.
As this forum captures the keen interest in educational interchange between nations, it emphasizes the value of digital branding as a crucial tool for educational institutions aiming to thrive in today’s interconnected world.
