AfDB and UKEF Sign Landmark Agreement
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and UK Export Finance (UKEF) have established a framework for collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement marks the first formal partnership between the two institutions, aiming to identify and develop co-financing opportunities in Africa.
Abdul Kamara, Vice President of AfDB, highlighted the necessity for partnerships that can deliver large-scale capital to meet Africa’s financing needs. The agreement is designed to open new avenues for financing infrastructure and investments essential for the continent’s growth.
Focus Areas for Co-Financing Initiatives
The partnership will prioritize several key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, water and sanitation, health, digital infrastructure, critical minerals, supply chain resilience, agriculture, and trade finance. By combining development finance with export credit, the agreement aims to attract more capital for strategic investments in these areas.
