Egypt is making significant strides in healthcare with its Universal Health Insurance System.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly reviewed a report detailing the achievements of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) for the first half of the 2025/2026 fiscal year. The report highlighted that approximately 6.767 million beneficiaries are enrolled in the system, and a total of 94.22 million medical services have been provided.
Expansion of Universal Health Insurance in Egypt
The EHA is focused on enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services. It operates 335 healthcare facilities, including 289 family medicine centers and 46 hospitals. The authority aims to deliver high-quality care without discrimination while ensuring financial sustainability through effective governance.
In the reporting period, the authority performed 855,602 surgical procedures, including 191,771 advanced surgeries. This reflects a significant expansion in specialized medical services, catering to the diverse needs of the population.
Key Achievements in Healthcare Services
According to the report, the authority provided 3.83 million comprehensive health screening services and facilitated 18.98 million medical service visits. The focus on value-based healthcare emphasizes care outcomes and quality, aiming to improve long-term health for citizens.
Furthermore, the authority is committed to integrating with partner institutions and pursuing green healthcare initiatives, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
