Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport has set a new record for passenger traffic in Morocco.
On a peak day, the airport welcomed 13,309 passengers, highlighting a significant transformation in air travel within the Kingdom. This summer season has seen historical levels of movement across various airports, with Casablanca leading the way with 46,439 travelers in a single day.
Tangier Airport Surpasses 13,000 Passengers
The recent achievement at Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport marks a pivotal moment in Morocco’s aviation sector. This milestone places Tangier among the top regional hubs, following Casablanca and Marrakech. The airport’s performance is particularly impressive given its strategic location as a transit point for the Moroccan diaspora in Europe.
During the first weekend of August, other airports also reported high passenger numbers, with Marrakech Menara exceeding 30,000 travelers and Rabat-Salé welcoming 9,226 passengers. Agadir Al Massira recorded 11,973 travelers, showcasing the overall growth in Morocco’s air traffic.
Morocco’s Airports Experience Record Growth
Throughout the first seven months of the year, Tangier Airport accommodated approximately 1.71 million passengers, surpassing 1.40 million in the first half of the year. This represents an increase of nearly 9% compared to previous periods. The airports in Dakhla and Tetouan also showed remarkable growth rates, achieving increases of 45.2% and 36.14%, respectively.
