Egypt is making significant strides in its energy sector with the development of its first nuclear power plant.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is progressing well, with the first reactor expected to connect to the national power grid in 2028. This project is a collaboration between Egypt and Russia, aimed at diversifying energy sources and increasing clean energy capacity.

The El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is a landmark project for Egypt, marking the country’s entry into nuclear energy. During a meeting with Alexey Likhachev, the director general of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, Madbouly emphasized the importance of this project for national energy strategy.
The plant will consist of four reactor units, each capable of generating 1,200 megawatts. The first reactor is set to be operational by 2028, with the remaining three expected to be online by 2030.
