Ivory Coast is strengthening ties with its diaspora to boost economic development.

Ecobank Côte d’Ivoire has partnered with the Ministry Delegate for African Integration and Ivorians Abroad to enhance banking and investment services for Ivorians living overseas. This agreement, signed on July 3, aims to channel diaspora savings into businesses and entrepreneurship within the country.

New Banking Services for Ivorian Diaspora

The framework agreement will provide tailored banking products and project financing for Ivorians abroad. It also includes investment advisory services and entrepreneurship support, making it easier for the diaspora to invest back home. Minister Delegate Adama Dosso and Ecobank’s Managing Director Paul-Harry Aithnard emphasized the initiative’s role in facilitating economic participation from Ivorians living overseas.

Each year, Ivorians living abroad send more than CFA900 billion (about US.5 billion) back to the country. This amount surpasses the annual official development assistance received by Ivory Coast, highlighting the significance of diaspora contributions to the national economy.
