Libya has commenced its Hajj pilgrimage for 2023 with a significant departure from Sirte.
A total of 144 pilgrims from Sirte, Al-Jufra, and Ohraoua embarked on their journey to Saudi Arabia on Saturday. This marked the first direct flight of the year for the Hajj, organized by local officials and supported by various organizations.
First Direct Hajj Flight from Sirte
The pilgrims departed from Sirte Gulf International Airport, a significant hub for this year’s Hajj. The event was overseen by key local officials, including the mayors of Sirte and Al-Jufra. Their presence underscored the importance of this pilgrimage for the local communities.
Eng. Omran Faraj, the Director-General of the airport, confirmed that the flight was operated by Buraq Air. The coordination for this pilgrimage involved the Central Hajj Coordination committee, ensuring that all necessary resources were in place for a smooth departure.
