Africazine:

The Egyptian Customs Authority is revolutionizing export processes with a new digital platform.

A fully automated export system has been launched at Ain Sokhna Port, introducing a Unified Consignment Reference for all exporters. This initiative aims to cut customs clearance times from an average of eight days to just 48 hours, with a long-term goal of achieving clearance within hours.

New Digital System Enhances Export Efficiency

The new platform replaces outdated paper-based processes, streamlining operations by integrating all relevant inspection authorities. This digital transformation is designed to minimize delays associated with manual documentation, ensuring a smoother export experience for businesses.

Exporters will now benefit from faster access to export incentives, with immediate disbursement replacing the lengthy approval processes that previously took up to six months. This change is expected to significantly enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.

Wider Integration with Nafeza System

This rollout is part of the broader Nafeza system, which aims to unify customs procedures across Egypt. Currently, the system encompasses over 57,900 companies, 445 shipping lines, and approximately 2,900 customs clearance offices. The integration of these entities is crucial for achieving the efficiency targets set by the authorities.

Plans are underway to expand the automated export system to 130 customs locations, connecting it with 32 government entities, including the National Food Safety Authority Egypt and the General Organization for Export and Import Control. This expansion will further streamline export processes and enhance regulatory compliance.

Next Steps for the Automated Export System

  • Expand the system to 130 customs locations.
  • Connect with 32 government entities.
  • Continue to target an export goal of USD 145 billion by 2030.
