In a recent chat with Africazine, Abdoulie Sallah Fatty, Sanyang Diaspora Ambassador and Public Relations Officer of the Sanyang Development Foundation (SDF), shared some exciting developments that underscore the community’s growing unity and commitment to progress. The upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) is set to unite all sons and daughters of Sanyang, both at home and abroad, to forge new pathways for development within their cherished community.
“This event is crucial for us,” Sallah Fatty explained, “as it will create a platform where members can interact, exchange ideas, and collaboratively explore the opportunities our community needs to thrive.” It’s all about building a stronger Sanyang, and this AGM promises to be a pivotal step in that journey.
Abdoulie highlighted the incredible progress SDF has made since its inception. The organization has succeeded in weaving a tighter web of unity among Sanyang natives, creating vital connections between families and establishing meaningful dialogues. One significant achievement worth mentioning was the collaboration that led the government to reconsider the proposed site for a deep-sea port, initially planned for Sanyang. “Without the proactive steps taken by SDF, SUKA, and our community’s concerned citizens, much of Sanyang could have been lost,” he noted, reassuring that the homes and businesses currently standing are a testament to their collective efforts.
The SDF continues to champion the health sector, particularly supporting the Sanyang Health Centre through targeted initiatives. Additionally, the organization collaborates with SUKA to assist families with the repatriation of loved ones who pass away abroad, ensuring they are honored with dignified burials at home.
Looking to the future, Ambassador Sallah Fatty expressed confidence in the SDF’s expanding role, stating plans to enhance educational opportunities, promote skill development, empower women and children, and even work toward electrifying the community with a modern street-lighting system. His call to action? He urges every Sanyang native—especially the youth—to join the association and contribute their ideas toward building a more developed and united Sanyang.
In closing, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders involved in SDF’s initiatives. With this call for unity, understanding, and teamwork, the groundwork is being laid for a vibrant future in Sanyang, echoing the sentiments of commitment and hope that resonate throughout the community.
