Willem Strydom, the business development electronics manager, highlights the importance of analyzing the entire system, not just installing high-efficiency motors.
The company aims to identify energy losses in various applications, including pumps and conveyors. By utilizing their DriveRadar IoT platform, mines can shift from time-based maintenance to condition-based interventions, ensuring optimal performance and reduced downtime.

During site assessments, SEW-EURODRIVE discovered that many industrial applications are over-engineered. Werner Engelbrecht, works manager for electronics and mechatronics, points out that basic control intelligence can significantly reduce energy waste. For instance, some conveyor systems run unnecessarily due to a lack of automation.
SEW-EURODRIVE will also showcase one of its largest motors, an 11-ton medium voltage motor rated at 1850 kW and 6,6 kV, underscoring its commitment to heavy-duty mining applications.
