De Villiers, affectionately known as “Div,” has logged nearly 17,000 flight hours since starting as a constable in 1980. His tenure included numerous crime-fighting and emergency operations, earning him multiple awards for bravery and outstanding service.

Lieutenant Colonel de Villiers began his career at the Pretoria Central police station, where he quickly developed a passion for aviation. De Villiers received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a certificate of commendation for bravery during a cash-in-transit heist in 2007 and the National Commissioner’s Award in 2019 for outstanding service delivery.
