South Africa is set to modernize its border crossings with significant upgrades.
Five private consortia have been chosen to enhance six of the country’s busiest border posts. Work is expected to commence later this year or early next year, aiming to transform these crossings into smart ports of entry.

The selected border posts include Beitbridge and Oshoek in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, respectively, as well as Lebombo, Maseru Bridge, Kopfontein, and Ficksburg Bridge in Free State and North West. The upgrades will introduce separate lanes for cargo, buses, taxis, private vehicles, and pedestrians.
