The Rip Curl GromSearch, presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel, will take place from 3–6 April in Port Alfred. This event is a crucial opportunity for young surfers to showcase their skills in a competitive environment.
Top Juniors Set for Rip Curl GromSearch
South Africa’s best junior surfers are already arriving at East Beach for the Rip Curl GromSearch. This event is part of the Port Alfred Easter Festival and serves as a key proving ground for young talent. The right-hand waves are shaping up nicely, providing an ideal setting for competitors.
Among the top seeds participating are Matt Canning (U18), Ben Esterhuyse (U16), Leah Lepront (U16), and others across various age divisions. The competition promises to be intense, with each surfer aiming to secure a spot in the international finals.
Significance of the Competition
The GromSearch is not just another contest; it offers winners a direct entry into the Rip Curl GromSearch International Final. Recent finals have taken place in prestigious locations like Bali and Hossegor, highlighting the event’s importance on the global surfing stage.
