Last week, MTN South Africa upgraded a classroom into a computer laboratory at Stanger Training Centre in KwaDukuza, KwaZulu-Natal. This initiative is part of MTN’s Universal Service Obligations Schools Project, which has delivered 140 computer labs to schools for learners with special educational needs across South Africa.

MTN Enhances Learning at Stanger Training Centre

The upgraded laboratory at Stanger Training Centre includes significant improvements such as repainting, new furniture, and the installation of air-conditioning. Additionally, security features like burglar bars and an alarm system were added to ensure a safe learning environment.

This facility is crucial for learners with special educational needs, providing them with access to digital education tools like computers and tablets. The integration of technology into teaching will support educators and staff in enhancing the learning experience for these students.

MTN’s Commitment to Educational Access

MTN’s initiative aligns with its regulatory obligations and aims to improve access to education in South Africa. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa identifies schools that require support, ensuring that resources are directed where they are most needed.

Furthermore, the MTN SA Foundation has contributed digital devices to selected schools as part of the Department of Basic Education’s Back-to-School Campaign. This effort underscores MTN’s dedication to providing learners with the necessary tools for digital learning.

Next Steps for MTN’s Educational Initiatives
