The first International Explorers Festival on the continent welcomed participants from over 15 countries. This landmark gathering showcased the richness of Africa’s natural and cultural landscapes through collaboration and shared learning.
Explorers Festival Highlights African Talent
The Festival featured a diverse array of activities, including a three-day Storytellers Collective program. Participants honed their communication skills, culminating in a Spotlight event where they delivered energetic talks to regional Explorers and students. Additionally, the Community Training program and a meet-up for the Southern African Hub fostered thoughtful discussions and new relationships.
Collaboration was a key theme, with over twenty Explorers engaging in a multi-day workshop. They exchanged ideas and debated approaches to strengthen cross-border connections. This environment encouraged participants to reflect on community building across Africa.
Evening of Exploration Celebrates Achievements
The Festival concluded with the Evening of Exploration, honoring notable African voices in various fields. Ethnobiologist Kerllen Costa, conservationist Dominique Gonçalves, geologist Tebogo Vincent Makhubela, film producer Ntokozo Mbuli, and storyteller Noel Martin Anthony Kok shared personal narratives that highlighted their impactful work. Their stories resonated with purpose and humanity, showcasing the curiosity and resilience driving their research.
