Royal & First Lady Unite: A Memorable Visit to the Lalla Asmaa Foundation in Rabat

A Heartfelt Visit: Princess Lalla Asmaa and El Salvador's First Lady Celebrate Inclusive Care in Morocco

In a beautiful display of international solidarity, Princess Lalla Asmaa of Morocco welcomed Gabriela Rodríguez de Bukele, the First Lady of El Salvador, to the Headquarters of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation for Hearing Impaired Children and Youth in Rabat on Monday. This engaging visit highlighted the incredible advancements made in inclusive care and education for children with hearing impairments.

The duo took the time to tour the various facilities at the Foundation, immersing themselves in the inspiring environment that provides cutting-edge medical care, rehabilitation, specialized education, psychosocial support, and family training. The Lalla Asmaa Foundation has been a beacon of hope for many, and it was heartwarming to see these leaders acknowledging the impactful work being done.

During their visit, Princess Lalla Asmaa and First Lady Rodríguez were particularly enchanted by the Foundation’s summer camp. This initiative not only enriches the lives of children but also features a pedagogical greenhouse and a range of recreational activities. From pottery to diorama creation and sculpting, every workshop is designed to spark creativity and foster a sense of community among the participants.

In addition to the arts, the Foundation is at the forefront of technology-assisted learning. The aerobics room and classes in both English and American Sign Language (ASL) showcase a commitment to holistic education. A particularly innovative aspect of their program includes the use of a robot created to help teach sign language and an AI-driven speech therapy application, making learning both fun and effective.

Perhaps the most exciting news from this visit is the initiative to support twenty deaf children from El Salvador. These children will benefit from the specialized expertise of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, joining over 800 Moroccan children and 240 youths from 21 countries who have received transformative care since the inception of the NASMAA program in 2002.

To conclude this influential day, Princess Lalla Asmaa chaired a splendid luncheon at the Royal Guests Palace in Rabat, hosted by King Mohammed VI in honor of First Lady Rodríguez. This warm gathering of leaders underscores Morocco’s commitment to fostering inclusive practices in healthcare and education, proving that when nations come together, the possibilities for positive change are limitless.

As such, it is heartening to see bridges being built across cultures, reinforcing the idea that together we can empower children around the world.
