“June Borns Family Zone 2 Makes Generous Donation to LEKMA Hospital”

In a heartwarming show of community spirit, Zone 2 of the June Borns Family—a local non-governmental organization made up of individuals sharing the June birth month—has generously donated essential items to the Paediatric Unit of the LEKMA Hospital in Teshie, Accra. This initiative, which has a total value of GH¢58,682, seeks to bolster paediatric healthcare and elevate the hospital’s ability to provide superior care for its young patients.

The donation featured a wide array of critical items, including three air conditioners to ensure a comfortable environment for the children, ten drip stands for medical use, and various health essentials like twelve sanitizers and fifteen Omron thermometers. Furthermore, the group provided several packs of baby diapers in different sizes, including maxi and medium options, along with basic supplies like toilet rolls, multi-purpose towels, and even a curtain to enhance the hospital’s facilities.

In a commendable act of compassion, the Zone 2 members also settled medical bills for four patients, which included a substantial GH¢2,500 for a set of twins undergoing an emergency cesarean section. Such acts truly highlight the community-oriented focus of this organization, whose mission goes beyond mere donations.

Mr. Rexford Jones Bafoe, the Mayor of Zone 2, underscored the importance of the donation as part of their annual community outreach and social responsibility program. He shared, “As a collective born in June, we see ourselves as a family captivated by purpose. Our goal is to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children and ease the financial burdens faced by struggling families.” This ethos not only reinforces their commitment to philanthropy but also symbolizes the unique bond that unites the members.

Ms. Elizabeth Koranteng, the In-Charge of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the hospital management, stating that this donation arrives at a critical moment when support is greatly needed. “It will significantly enhance our services for the children and the families who rely on us,” she noted with appreciation.

Zone 2’s initiative exemplifies how community organizations can play pivotal roles in improving local healthcare services, particularly in pediatric care, making them true champions for children across Ghana. Their compassionate outreach not only supports the hospital but also fosters a tangible sense of goodwill and unity within the entire region.

This inspiring story, highlighting the generosity of the June Borns Family, reinforces the importance of community involvement and philanthropy in enhancing public health services.
