“Get Ready for Coral North: A Game-Changing FLNG Facility Set to Transform the Industry!”

Technip Energies Expands Its Footprint in Mozambique with Coral North FLNG Initiative

In a significant development for Africa’s energy landscape, French contractor Technip Energies has taken another step forward in Mozambique’s ambitious liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. The company announced it has secured a contract for preliminary activities associated with the Coral North Floating LNG (FLNG) facility. This exciting new project is poised to mirror the successful Coral South FLNG facility, which Technip delivered back in November 2021 with an impressive capacity of 3.4 million metric tonnes per year (MMTPA).

Technip Energies has a proven track record in this segment, having executed preliminary work for Coral South before going on to construct the vessel, which officially commenced operations in 2022. As it embarks on the Coral North project, the company has emphasized the potential for further orders once the full contract is awarded, which is expected by September 30, 2025.

What’s particularly noteworthy about this development is how it positions Technip Energies as a key player in the FLNG domain globally. If Technip successfully secures the contract to construct Coral North, it will mark the company’s fourth open-sea floating facility, collectively boasting a remarkable capacity of 11.6 million tonnes per annum (MMTPA). Technip Energies has previously delivered other notable FLNG projects, including the Prelude FLNG in Australia and PFLNG SATU in Malaysia, highlighting its expertise and innovative capabilities in this challenging field.

The Coral North initiative not only strengthens Mozambique’s position as a burgeoning hub in the global LNG market but also underscores the increasing importance of sustainable energy resources in Africa. The continent is seeing a growing interest from international investors keen on tapping into its rich energy potential while also contributing to economic growth and job creation.

As the energy landscape in Africa continues to evolve, projects like Coral North promise to foster development, improve energy security, and promote sustainable practices in a region rich with resources. Technip Energies’ involvement in this exciting phase underscores its leadership role in steering Africa’s energy future.
