NOA Group Secures Funding for Exciting 94.5 MW Wind Farm Project in South Africa!

NOA Group Advances Renewable Energy in South Africa with Wind Garden Project

In a significant step towards a greener future, NOA Group has successfully reached a financial close on its ambitious Wind Garden project, a 94.5 MW wind energy initiative nestled near Makhanda in the Eastern Cape. This milestone is particularly noteworthy as it marks NOA Group’s first wholly-owned large-scale wind project to proceed to this stage, with construction already well underway.

The Wind Garden project is not just another renewable energy venture; it is a transformative addition to South Africa’s energy landscape. Comprised of 21 state-of-the-art Vestas turbines, this project is projected to yield around 287 GWh of clean energy every year. To put that into perspective, by generating this much energy, Wind Garden will help offset over 304,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing significantly to the country’s efforts in tackling climate change. Power generated will be delivered to commercial and industrial users through NOA Group’s innovative grid-wheeled energy platform, making it a sustainable energy choice for various sectors.

Karel Cornelissen, CEO of NOA Group, expressed enthusiasm about the project, saying, “Wind Garden marks a major step in NOA Group’s expansion of its national footprint, aimed at developing a robust portfolio of renewable energy generation assets. Achieving these goals relies on strong financial partnerships, which are essential to unlocking private investment that supports both economic recovery and South Africa’s decarbonisation ambitions.” This sentiment highlights the importance of collaboration and investment in forging a sustainable future, particularly in the context of South Africa’s ongoing transition to renewable energy sources.

The formal ground-breaking ceremony for Wind Garden took place on May 7, 2025, marking a proud moment for NOA Group and its partners. As construction progresses, there is palpable excitement surrounding the potential economic and environmental impact of this project, setting a framework for future renewable initiatives across the continent.

As the world pivots towards sustainable innovation, projects like Wind Garden not only bolster South Africa’s clean energy capabilities but also exemplify the positive strides being made in the global renewable energy sector. The ripple effects of such initiatives can inspire similar developments throughout Africa, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Wind Garden project and other exciting developments in renewable energy.
