Fortress Takes a Bold Step Forward with New Suzuki Headquarters in Gauteng

In exciting news for the South African automotive and logistics sectors, Fortress has officially commenced the construction of Suzuki Auto South Africa’s new head office and distribution center at Longlake Logistics Park, Gauteng. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on May 21, 2025, marked a significant milestone in what promises to be a synergistic partnership focused on innovation, growth, and sustainability.

The strategic decision to relocate from the Linbro Business Park to a custom-designed 24,507 m² facility at Longlake demonstrates Suzuki’s confidence in Fortress’s innovative logistics solutions. The new headquarters is set to be completed by June 2026, showcasing a commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and employee well-being.

Designed with a vision for the future, the facility will feature a spacious workspace comprising 2,900 m² of modern offices along with 19,100 m² of state-of-the-art warehousing. Equipped with advanced amenities such as training facilities, boardrooms, a workshop, and a canteen that can accommodate up to 100 people, it promises to be an environment where collaboration and innovation can flourish. The warehouse’s impressive height of 15 meters will allow for optimal vertical space utilization, while ample yard space will ensure smooth vehicular access, streamlining logistics operations.

Marguerite Oosthuizen, Leasing Consultant at Fortress, remarked, “Our goal extends beyond merely providing storage; we’re committed to creating an environment that aligns with Suzuki’s brand ethos while empowering its workforce.” This philosophy reflects Fortress’s dedication to forging value-driven partnerships and delivering tailored solutions that enhance operational excellence.

Berto van der Lith, the Vice President and CFO of Suzuki Auto South Africa, expressed enthusiasm about the new chapter this development represents. “Our new headquarters will facilitate improvements in our operations, aligning with the growth we anticipate in the years ahead. Partnering with Fortress has allowed us to realize this vision thanks to their profound understanding of our requirements and objectives.”

In conjunction with Suzuki’s project, Fortress is also set to unveil a second speculative building within Longlake, which features approximately 19,000 m² of adaptable space for prospective tenants. This initiative not only highlights the vision for a thriving logistics hub but also emphasizes Fortress’s commitment to fostering economic growth in Gauteng.

The Longlake Logistics Park is poised to redefine the landscape of logistics and automotive operations in South Africa, setting a standard in innovative facilities while forging sustainable community partnerships.
