Empowering Eritrean Youth with Vocational Training: A Step Towards a Bright Future
In an inspiring initiative aimed at building a more skilled workforce, the Sawa and Higher Education Institution branch of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students recently offered a three-month vocational training program for 123 aspiring professionals from Mai-Nefhi College of Engineering and Technology. This program not only equips the youth with essential skills but also highlights the commitment of Eritrea toward educational advancements and youth empowerment.
Mr. Filmon Mel’akle, who heads the union branch at the college, reported that the program saw 52 students delve into graphic design while 49 focused on the intricacies of solar system installation. This specialization is particularly timely, given the global shift towards renewable energy and the increasing demand for innovative design in the digital age.
Dr. Habteab Tsige, the head of the Mining Department at the college, emphasized the importance of early skill acquisition, stating that the knowledge gained during formative years profoundly shapes future opportunities. He motivated the trainees to not only absorb their new skills but also apply them effectively in real-world scenarios. This advice is aimed at fostering a proactive approach among the students, turning theoretical knowledge into practical achievements.
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Seltene Teklom, the head of administration and finance at the Sawa branch, reiterated the union’s commitment to nurturing vocational capacities within the youth. He encouraged the participants to harness their skills for the betterment of their communities, reinforcing the idea that individual success contributes to collective growth.
To highlight the program’s success, records indicate that a total of 947 students from the College of Engineering and Technology have benefitted from similar vocational training initiatives. This trend showcases Eritrea’s dedication towards creating a well-trained workforce that meets the demands of modern industries.
As Eritrea continues to invest in the education and vocational training of its youth, it sets a positive example for other African nations striving for development and sustainability in their workforce.
By equipping the next generation with practical skills and encouraging community engagement, Eritrea’s efforts illustrate a commitment to building a brighter, more innovative future.
