Empower New Energy Expands Solar Horizons in Morocco

In an exciting development for sustainable energy, Empower New Energy has officially inked a 12-year solar power agreement with Saray Immo, a prominent manufacturing and logistics firm based in Morocco. This partnership signifies a monumental step towards renewable energy adoption in the region, setting Morocco on a path to further harness its natural resources for a greener future.

Investment and Capacity

With an investment totaling .5 million, the agreement encompasses the financing, construction, and operation of two rooftop solar plants boasting an impressive capacity of 5.8 MWp. This project will not only generate approximately 9,600 MWh of clean energy annually but also lead to a remarkable reduction of around 6,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The rooftop solar plant will cover a sprawling 49,000 square meters on Saray Immo’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, placing it among the largest solar rooftop installations in Morocco.

CEO of Empower New Energy, Terje Osmundsen, expressed his enthusiasm about the new venture, stating, “I am delighted to sign this ground-breaking solar investment project in Morocco, a country with vast potential for sustainable economic growth and a commitment to addressing global warming challenges.” This reflects not only the economic ambitions of Morocco but also its proactive stance in adopting environmentally friendly practices.

Celebrating Collaborative Milestones

The signing ceremony, which took place in the presence of Norway’s Ambassador to Morocco, H.E. Sjur Larsen, was a testament to the strengthening ties between Norway and Morocco. Ambassador Larsen noted, “Today marks a significant milestone in our collaborative efforts,” underscoring the importance of international partnerships in driving sustainable initiatives.

Morocco is already a leader in renewable energy in Africa, with ambitious plans to generate over 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. This new solar project is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving that goal, showcasing the country’s commitment to a sustainable future.

As we navigate towards an era increasingly defined by climate change challenges, Morocco’s leadership in renewable energy offers an inspiring model for other nations. With innovative projects like this underway, the kingdom is not just enhancing its energy security but also contributing significantly to global efforts against climate change.
