“Vice President Explores Namibe’s Thriving Agricultural Hub: A Journey into Angola’s Farming Future”

Vice President of Angola Engages with Communities in the Agricultural Hub of Virei

In a move to bolster agricultural development and community welfare, Vice President Esperança da Costa is making strides in Namibe Province, Angola. During her working visit on Thursday, she will connect directly with the heartbeat of the region—the agricultural community of Virei. Known for its vibrant agricultural scene, Virei is more than just a municipality; it’s a powerhouse of productivity and resilience.

The Vice President’s itinerary includes a visit to the Tchitundu-Hulu station, situated 26 kilometers from the capital of Virei. This station is a vital resource for local farmers, providing essential support and infrastructure. A highlight of her visit will be the inauguration of the “Okulinonga” project, a commendable initiative aimed at combating illiteracy within pastoralist communities and empowering residents through education. This project underscores the government’s commitment to improve literacy rates, particularly in regions where education can be challenging to access.

Since last year, Virei has been a hub of renovation and improvement, with efforts underway to uplift living conditions for its inhabitants. According to André Cassinda, the administrator of Virei, these developments are part of the broader Public Investment Program (PIP). The PIP seeks to transform local communities across Angola into more habitable and economically viable places.

The renovation efforts in Virei include the construction of essential social facilities that are poised to enhance community life. These projects comprise five gardens, two recreational parks, and significant upgrades to the Administration Palace, which will see the addition of five suites and a cafeteria. Moreover, the Municipal Administration is being expanded to include nine new offices, which will better serve the local population of over 40,000 residents, primarily comprised of ranchers and small-scale farmers.

In summary, Vice President Esperança da Costa’s visit to Virei is a crucial step in promoting agricultural growth and social development in Angola. As she engages with the community and inaugurates impactful projects, the people of Virei are poised to benefit from enhanced facilities and educational initiatives. This visit is a clear indicator of government commitment to fostering sustainable growth in all corners of the nation.

Stay tuned for more updates from across Africa. For now, let’s celebrate the progress in Virei!
