In an exciting development for international trade, MSC is set to launch a new direct shipping service connecting Europe with West Africa, particularly focusing on the growth markets of Angola, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This initiative not only signifies MSC’s first direct route from North-West Continental (NWC) ports to these vibrant economies but also aims to enhance logistical efficiency by offering quicker transit times for a variety of cargo types.
Starting November 25, 2024, with the MSC SUEZ voyage WM448A, the new shipping route will connect key cities including Pointe Noire and Luanda, with impressive transit times. For instance, shipments from Rotterdam to Pointe Noire will take just 23 days, while the journey from Antwerp will take 21 days and from Le Havre only 19 days. Luanda can expect cargo to arrive 25 days later from Rotterdam, 23 days from Antwerp, and 21 days from Le Havre. Furthermore, this service will facilitate trade access to Matadi in the DRC through dedicated feeder services originating from Pointe Noire.
To make this initiative even more appealing, MSC is not just stopping at shipping. They are rolling out comprehensive intermodal solutions, enhancing the movement of goods from Pointe Noire to major urban centers like Kinshasa and Brazzaville, and providing further support for cargo delivery from Luanda to inland destinations in Angola.
