Trevor Noah’s Tourism Campaign Shines at 2024 World Tourism Film Awards

In a remarkable achievement for South Africa, the Trevor Noah Tourism Campaign has snagged the impressive title of third place for the “Best Country Promotion Film” at the prestigious 2024 World Tourism Film Awards. Out of a staggering 4,000 entries, with only 100 films making the shortlist, and just 29 being recognized, this accolade speaks volumes about the campaign’s quality and international appeal!

The initiative, spearheaded by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and backed by the Tourism Marketing South Africa (TOMSA), is a vibrant showcase of the country’s rich cultural tapestry, stunning landscapes, and exceptional travel experiences. With Trevor Noah—renowned comedian and host, who has a profound connection to his South African roots—narrating the film, it has resonated deeply with audiences around the world. This campaign not only enhances South Africa’s image as a premier travel destination but also emphasizes the nation’s unique stories and experiences.

Following the immense challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the TBCSA launched this campaign as part of a broader effort to revive global interest in South Africa’s tourism sector. The results have been nothing short of extraordinary: the campaign has garnered over 500 million impressions, attracted more than 260 million engagements, and achieved a whopping 230 million views across various platforms. Such success underscores the growing enthusiasm for travel in a post-pandemic world, showcasing South Africa as a must-visit location.

In light of this recognition, TBCSA CEO Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa expressed his thoughts, stating, “This recognition underscores our resilience and highlights the global appeal of South Africa’s story.” His optimism reflects the collective effort of the tourism industry to not only recover from recent setbacks but to thrive and flourish.

As South Africa continues to embrace its identity and showcase its unparalleled offerings, this campaign marks a pivotal moment in its tourism journey. With only positive momentum ahead, global travelers can expect to encounter the vibrance, warmth, and diverse experiences that South Africa has to offer.
