The Capricorn Foundation is significantly enhancing education in Namibia through its support for the Teaching at the Right Level programme.
Following a successful pilot in 2024 that benefited 473 learners, the Foundation’s total investment of N8,000 now reaches 1,200 learners and 200 teachers across the Kunene Region. The programme, which employs a learner-centred approach, will expand to 15 schools in 2026, including remote and nomadic communities.
Capricorn Foundation Expands Educational Support in Namibia
The Capricorn Foundation is committed to improving educational outcomes in Namibia. Its support for Meerkat Learning’s Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) programme has proven effective, with measurable improvements in foundational skills over the past two years. The programme groups children based on their actual learning levels, allowing for targeted instruction.
At Jack Francis Primary School, the rate of innumeracy dropped from 75% to 21%. Additionally, at Otjimuhaka Mobile Unit and Ovituambu Primary School, division-level skills improved by 41%. Several schools reported reductions in the number of learners unable to perform basic mathematical tasks by 20 to 50 percentage points.

Future Plans for Educational Expansion
The programme will scale to include 15 schools across five circuits in 2026. This expansion will also introduce the first TaRL-NAMCOL Holiday Camp, aimed at out-of-school youth. The Capricorn Foundation and Meerkat Learning are focused on sustaining this positive momentum in education.
