“Empowering Itsekiris: Advocating for Political Support from the Tinubu Administration”

Renowned Delta businessman and influential politician, Chief Ayiri Emami, has recently made a noteworthy appeal to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to recognize the political loyalty of the Itsekiri people. After meeting with President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Emami emphasized the importance of political patronage for his community, who turned out in significant numbers to support the President in the 2023 elections.

During his conversation with reporters, Emami articulated the expectations of the Itsekiri community, stating, “When you work, you expect some dividends. We voted for Mr. President, and as such, we anticipate a place at the decision-making table.” This sentiment encapsulates a broader desire within many communities across Nigeria for their contributions and loyalty to be acknowledged in government affairs.

In addition to discussing political representation, Emami highlighted critical local infrastructure issues during his meeting with the President. He raised the pressing need for improvements to the road connecting Omadino, Gbaramatu, and Ugborodo, noting that work was already underway with the involvement of Chevron and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Expressing optimism, he stated, “The President assured us that progress is being made on this front.”

Another significant topic on Emami’s agenda was the Warri Port. This strategic asset has long been a focal point for economic development in the region. The businessman expressed confidence that ongoing discussions between the government and the GMD would yield positive outcomes regarding the port’s future.

Emami also touched upon the Ogidigben Gas Project, an initiative vital for creating jobs and fostering economic growth. He indicated that the President had taken immediate note of the project’s importance and was keen on addressing the concerns surrounding it.

As for security, Emami reported a strong sense of safety in the Delta waterways, stating, “The Warri-Escravos route is among the safest in the world right now. We haven’t experienced significant security challenges lately.” This assertion reflects the concerted efforts by local authorities and communities to maintain peace and security in the region.

Chief Ayiri Emami’s call to action resonates with many Nigerians who seek greater involvement in their governance. His advocacy represents a growing trend among various communities across the nation striving for recognition, participation, and development. As the political landscape in Nigeria evolves, the voices of local leaders like Emami will undoubtedly be crucial in shaping the future of the country.
