Aline Abayo Earns Spot in Prestigious Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program!

Aline Abayo: A Rising Star in Climate Solutions

The global stage just got a bit brighter with the selection of Aline Abayo, a graduate student from the Energy and Resource Group (ERG) at the University of California, Berkeley, as one of only eleven participants in the prestigious Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program. This exciting initiative, a collaboration between EF Study Abroad, The Forum of Education Abroad, and the Nobel Prize Museum, celebrates young scholars who are proactively addressing some of the world’s most pressing issues.

Abayo’s participation in the program speaks volumes about her commitment to making an impact. Throughout the fall term, she, along with her fellow scholars, is diving deep into action-learning projects and an enriching online course. The program will reach a climax with an in-person experience in Stockholm, Sweden, from December 6 to 12 during the illustrious Nobel Week Dialogue. Here, Abayo will engage with esteemed Nobel Laureates and global leaders, exchanging ideas on this year’s poignant theme—“The Future of Health.”

Abayo’s academic journey is steeped in a fervent dedication to climate finance and sustainable development. Her research at ERG delves into critical minerals, the economics of renewable energy, and aligns climate initiatives with developmental goals. Before this remarkable opportunity, she served as a junior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’s Africa Program. During her time there, she played a vital role in researching Africa’s dynamic energy transition—work that is increasingly relevant in today’s changing geopolitical landscape.

Hailing from Kigali, Rwanda, Abayo carries an impressive academic background. She holds a BS in Integrated Science and Agricultural Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, demonstrating her strong foundation in tackling complex global challenges.

As the world turns its eyes toward emerging leaders in sustainability, Abayo is undoubtedly one to watch. Her blend of academic prowess and practical engagement equips her to be a significant player in the sustainability conversation.

For those intrigued by initiatives like this, you can learn more about the Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program on the EF Study Abroad website. We can’t wait to see the contributions Abayo will make and the innovative solutions she will propose in the future!
