Incredible Six-Year-Old Dares to Conquer North Africa’s Tallest Peak!

Six-Year-Old Girl Makes Waves by Climbing Mount Toubkal in Morocco!

In an inspiring tale of determination and adventure, Seren Price, a six-year-old from the UK, recently achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the youngest girl to summit Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. Standing tall at an impressive 4,167 meters (13,671 feet), this iconic mountain located in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco has long captivated explorers and adventurers alike.

Seren’s climb was more than just a thrilling adventure; it was a heartfelt mission to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which played a vital role in her life when she was born prematurely. Seren’s father, Glyn Price, emphasized the emotional significance of this climb: “We wanted to give back to the hospital that saved her life. It’s our way of showing gratitude,” he explained.

In mid-August, the dynamic duo jet-setted to Morocco, where they made their way to a quaint village nestled at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Alongside a local guide, they embarked on an impressive eight-hour trek to reach the base camp of Mount Toubkal, gearing up for the ascent that would put both their physical strength and mental resilience to the test.

Glyn shared that the toughest hurdle on their journey was coping with the extreme heat. However, the experience of reaching the summit made every ounce of effort worthwhile. “Once we got to the top, it was brilliant. There were about 20 people there who had followed Seren’s story on social media, and they gave her a big round of applause,” he recalled proudly.

Despite claiming she had only trained for “a week,” Seren, with her playful laughter, admitted, “I think it was a little more than a week.” In reality, their training spanned nearly a year, which included climbing Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, a significant preparation for the more challenging terrains of Toubkal. Glyn noted, “We were able to replicate some of the tracks. Obviously, the weather wasn’t the same, but the terrain was.”

Reflecting on her incredible journey, Seren shared her heartfelt reason for the climb. “When I was a baby, I had a big lump on my neck, and they helped me,” she narrated with a smile, capturing the essence of her motivation. It’s worth mentioning that Seren also made history in 2022 as the youngest person to complete the UK’s Three Peaks challenge in under 48 hours—a testament to her adventurous spirit!

Looking ahead, the adventurous pair is gearing up for their next challenge—climbing Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. This upcoming venture will involve winter training in the Scottish highlands, and Seren is eagerly anticipating “seeing the snow.”

Glyn, an avid mountaineer, notes the importance of nurturing children’s interests. While Seren has clearly found her passion in the mountains, her brother isn’t as keen on climbing, showcasing how every child’s enthusiasm is unique.

At the heart of this adventure, Seren shared what matters most to her: “I like spending time with my dad—and seeing the nice things when I’m at the top of the mountain.”

Seren’s climbing feats are not only an inspiration to young adventurers everywhere but also a heartwarming reminder of the strength of familial bonds and the importance of community support in overcoming life’s challenges.
