Vietnam and Angola Aim for Dynamic and Effective Collaboration

In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral relations, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Son Minh Thang met with Angola’s Minister of External Relations, António, in Luanda on August 7. This meeting occurred during State President Luong Cuong’s official visit to Angola, marking an important chapter in Vietnam and Angola’s cooperative journey.

Son expressed gratitude to the Angolan Ministry of External Relations for its proactive efforts in bolstering ties between the two nations and facilitating President Cuong’s landmark visit. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the existing cooperation framework, particularly the Viet Nam – Angola Intergovernmental Committee, to enhance the exchange of delegations across various levels.

António unveiled his country’s enthusiasm for the Vietnamese President’s visit, describing it as a pivotal moment in the evolution of their bilateral relationships. He urged both nations to leverage their shared history of friendship to delve deeper into economic, trade, and investment ventures, which holds great potential for mutual growth. Angola’s commitment to working alongside Vietnam brings invaluable opportunities, especially in priority sectors such as agriculture and food security.

As they explored potential avenues for collaboration, the discussions emphasized improving rice production and enhancing food security—areas critically important for both nations. Furthermore, both leaders encouraged their respective business communities to seek out new trading opportunities and investments that would benefit both countries.

Son also took the opportunity to advocate for a supportive environment for Vietnamese citizens and enterprises in Angola. He encouraged the Angolan government to foster conditions that would enable them to thrive within the country, which would contribute positively not only to Angola’s socio-economic landscape but also to the enduring friendship between the two nations.

In a spirit of camaraderie, Son invited António to visit Vietnam, a proposal that was enthusiastically accepted. This invitation lays the groundwork for further dialogue and collaboration in the future.

As Vietnam and Angola chart their course for mutual prosperity, it’s evident that their commitment to fostering a cooperative partnership is set to bear fruit in a myriad of sectors.
