Exciting Developments in Zambia: New Copper Target Discovered by Patriot Resources Limited
In a promising turn for the mining sector, Patriot Resources Limited has unveiled a significant discovery of a new copper drill target at its 100% optioned Sugarloaf Licence, located in the Mumbwa District of Zambia. This discovery, situated approximately 850 meters from the historical Sugarloaf Pit, emphasizes the area’s remarkable geological potential and expands Patriot’s growing list of priority drill targets.
Key Highlights of the Discovery
The newly identified copper target is notable for its syenite-chert body, displaying visible malachite mineralization across an impressive 800-meter strike length and extending up to 240 meters in width. The strike trends northeast-southwest and remains open-ended, creating an exciting opportunity for further exploration.
Recent portable XRF (pXRF) surface tests have indicated anomalous copper values, peaking at 3.12% Cu, with an average of 0.62% Cu across the mapped surface zone. This mineralization is geologically comparable to the copper deposits found in the Sugarloaf Pit, as well as the nearby Sinomine Kitumba Copper Deposit, located just 4.4 kilometers to the northwest. Mapping and sampling reinforce the strong potential for future drilling and resource development.
The copper-bearing geology consists of a feldspar porphyry syenite interwoven with ferruginous chert, showcasing a significant presence of mineralized zones at the surface. The pXRF assays have returned values ranging from a modest 0.05% to an impressive 3.13% Cu, with 13 out of 14 samples demonstrating copper levels above 0.2% Cu. Although these readings are preliminary, they offer compelling evidence of extensive surface mineralization in the area.
Next Steps for Development
Patriot Resources is gearing up for an active exploration campaign. Immediate next steps include resource modeling to support a JORC (2012) Mineral Resource Estimate, followed by the definition of reserves. The company plans to conduct validation diamond drilling and metallurgical tests to optimize processing routes.
Additionally, ongoing regional exploration within the Sugarloaf licence will continue, and Patriot is progressing a toll treating agreement with Sinomine Resources Group. This partnership could facilitate the processing of Sugarloaf ore at the nearby Kitumba facility, further enhancing the viability of this promising project.
Patriot’s latest discovery underscores Zambia’s burgeoning reputation in the mining industry, particularly in copper production, as the world continues to seek sustainable mineral resources.
Stay tuned for more updates as Patriot Resources embarks on this exciting journey, potentially leading to significant contributions to both the local economy and the broader mining market.
